RethinkRemakeReLove Book Bag Workshop

So Autumn is nearly here and our brand new RethinkRemakeRelove workshops kick off next week.  

First up we have our Book Bag Workshop, we will be upcycling durable denim jeans to made sturdy book backs on the 5th of September.  They are perfect for students, teachers or anyone who has lots of things to carry around to the office or studio.  The bag is a great way to start your sewing journey as it is all straight lines.  There will also be a number of materials you can use to embellish your design, the possibilities are endless!

Website Update

Hi everyone hope you are all well.  Things have been non stop for the last few weeks with the denim lovers project with Selfridges, organising workshops, having a good stock clear out, getting ready for Uni in September, my best friends hen do and a week in the sun in Greece .... phew I think I need another holiday to get over it all!

I have just started reorganising my stock and the massive process of updating the website has begun.  I have just restocked my one off hand made cards.  The 'Something Old, Something New' range combines a mix of vintage materials and stitching to offer an alternative to the usual high street designs.

Another Few Weeks in Selfridges #denimlovers

Myself and Lucy have been on the road again with Rethink, Remake, Relove customising denim in Manchester and Birmingham.  We have been having a fantastic time transforming denim with chain, beads, studs, fabric and much more.  Here are some examples from the last few weeks.

Denim Lovers Week Two

We are back on the road again this week and this time we are hitting Selfridges in Manchester's Trafford Centre.  The last week has been fantastic and we have had so much fun customising denim.  I will update the blog later this week with snaps from the first fortnight.

If you would like to take part come and see us in the Trafford Centre on Thursday and Friday from 4-9pm.  All customisation is FREE with any denim purchase.

Bye Bye Mr Birds

Hi everyone hope you are all well.  I have been really busy over the last few weeks so apologies again for the lack of blogging.  

As you might have seen on my Facebook I have left Mr Birds Emporium as I am returning to University in September to start my PGCE.  I am still going to do the occasional fair when I can but for now all of my energy will be focused on my course so I have made the decision to sell mainly online at www.lauralovesboutique.com

I would like to thank everyone for their support whilst I have been at Mr Birds, I loved owning my own shop but I am now really excited to see what the next year has in store.

 Mr Birds is undergoing a makeover and will be reopening in the next few weeks, it will still be bring a fantastic selection of traders and goodies so please make sure you continue to support your local independent traders.

Over the last few months myself and  Lucy from Nothing New have been working hard on our RethinkRemakeRelove workshops.  We have met lots of lovely people who have attended workshops and joined us to make items using unwanted items.  We also expanded the workshops to add a fortnightly craft club which gave people the opportunity to catch up with other crafters to have a natter and get on with projects.

A few weeks ago we received an exciting phone call from Selfridges.  After pinching ourselves repeatedly things started to sink in... they wanted us to be part of their #denimlovers campaign! After numerous emails and meetings I am really pleased to tell you that RethinkRemakeRelove is on the move.  We are going to be working in Selfridges Birmingham and Selfridges Manchester over the next few weeks offering FREE denim customisation workshops.  When you purchase denim in the store you will have the opportunity to come and visit our stand and use the materials to personalise your clothing.

Our first workshops start this weekend in Selfridges in Birmingham and we would love to see some of you there.  I will update the blog soon with some pictures of the denim transformations that take place this weekend.
