H&M Bargains

This weekend I popped into H&M to pick up some basics to bump up my summer wardrobe.  Amongst other things I picked up a skirt, dress and two incredibly priced jumpers.

The lightweight jumpers are fab and priced at just £5.99.  As you probably know by now I am a sucker for floral prints so I immediately added the gorgeous flower jumper to my basket.  Next up was a simple slogan print with Eiffel Tower detailing.

I can see these being a staple of my wardrobe over the next few months, they are lightweight so perfect for layering and for throwing on when the hot summer night (hopefully) turn chilly!

I have looked on the website and there is a sugar skull design that I am desperate to get my hands on, I didn't see it on Saturday so the hunt begins!

Naked Basics Palette

Whilst I was in America I ventured into Sephora in Times Square which has fast become my favourite place! The shop is amazing, filled to the brim with beauty products and perfume to suit all budgets and with fantastic try it out areas such as a nail bar.

When I reached the till area I could not resist the Naked Basics Palette.  At just $24 I thought it was a real bargain and the perfect size for me to bring on nights out.  I am really pleased with the selection of colours which can easily take you from day to night and the staying power of the colours is excellent.

I am now considering stocking up on one of the Naked Palettes, would you recommend one form the three?

Thanks

Spring/Summer Weddings Wishlist

I am going to a Spring wedding in America this month so I have been having a look for outfits to wear to the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day.  As I am sure you all know I am a sucker for floral prints but I have also picked out some plain dresses which I am going to accessorise with some bright jewellery and accessories.

NYC Wishlist 1 - Pamela Barsky

Whilst I am in New York i am going to take the time to visit the Artist and Fleas section of Chelsea Market.  I went there last time I visited and I absolutely loved it the whole place was fab I managed to pick up some beautiful jewellery and accessories last time and I can't wait to go back.

Last time I was there I picked up a pouch from the super talented Pamela Barsky.  Her products are absolutely brilliant, gorgeous little bags adorned with quirky and funny quotes.  The one I bought two years ago has served me well, I have used it to carry makeup and jewellery and even as a purse.  I have a wish list ready for my visit.

All of Pamela's products are also available from her Etsy shop, click the link to see how amazing they are.

Benefit Lollitint Review

A few weeks ago I decided to treat myself to one of Benefit's latest products, Lollitint.  I am a big fan of Benefits tints, before buying this one my favourite was their best selling Benetint which I use on a daily basis.

When I saw the new release I could not resist temptation, the colour is absolutely divine and I could not wait to get my hands on it!
When it finally arrived I was not disappointed, the candy orchid colour is simply beautiful and perfect for everyday use.  I adds a lovely pink natural glow to the cheeks and it has fantastic staying power.  I have applied this in the mornings and roughly 8-10 hours later I have not noticed any difference in colour from application.

The consistency of the product is much creamier than Benetint and I feel this makes it easier to apply.  The product dries quickly so after experimenting I find it easier to brush it gently onto a blusher brush and stipple it onto the skin.
Priced at £24.50 the tint is more expensive than some of the usual products I buy but a little really does go a long way.  Previous tints that I have bought have lasted for a long time and they are a staple part of my make up regime.  You can purchase it in lots of places including Boots, Debenhams and Benefit Stores or Online.

Next on my wish list from Benefit is the They're Real Mascara.  Have you got a favourite Benefit product or have you tried Lollitint?

Website Update

Hi everyone hope you are all well.  Things have been non stop for the last few weeks with the denim lovers project with Selfridges, organising workshops, having a good stock clear out, getting ready for Uni in September, my best friends hen do and a week in the sun in Greece .... phew I think I need another holiday to get over it all!

I have just started reorganising my stock and the massive process of updating the website has begun.  I have just restocked my one off hand made cards.  The 'Something Old, Something New' range combines a mix of vintage materials and stitching to offer an alternative to the usual high street designs.

Over the next few days I am going to be photographing jewellery and hair accessories.  My website is www.lauralovesboutique.com if anyone of you would like to pop over and take a look your feedback is always useful and welcome.

Laura Loves Haberdashery

I have recently set up a Haberdashery page on Etsy to sell everything crafty people need from buttons to vintage patterns.  Over the next few weeks I will be adding lots of items but I will be mainly specialising in Vintage supplies.  I use a lot of vintage buttons, fabrics and patterns in my designs but I have decided it is time for a bit of a clear out as my workspace is getting a bit cluttered!

I have created a Facebook group for you to follow to be updated on new stock so please feel free to join.  If you would like me to search for anything specific get in touch.  Here is an example of some of the stock online at the moment.

La Mode Nautical Buttons - Original Packaging £1.50
I have tonnes of buttons for sale, most of the vintage ones are still on their original packaging.

Vintage Buckle £1.50
I have seen the vintage buckles used in lots of different ways to create jewellery and even headbands.

Vintage Knitting Pattern £2

I am thinking of buying some studs and spikes for people who want to customise items and possibly placing some fabric and lace in the store.  What do you think? What type of products would you like to see on sale? I would love to hear your feedback.

Laura Loves Birmingham

As you may or may not know I am from Birmingham, although I do a lot of fairs around the country and I love lots of the cities I have visited.   I recently took the time to take in some of the sights of my home city.

The Birmingham Bull in its Jubilee finest.

I like spending time in places such as the Botanical Gardens which is such a lovely time to spend the day especially if the sun is shining.   One of my other places to spend the day is just outside Birmingham in Stratford Upon Avon.  I spent a lot of time there when I was at university as it was a great place to gather inspiration and to work.  I particularly love the Butterfly Farm in Stratford and a pub called Cox's Yard.  I was lucky enough to trade there last year with the team from Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair.

A view from the Bullring.
Another favourite of mine is The Custard Factory in Digbeth which is home to a number of fantastic independent retailers and business including The Frock On Vintage Studio a celeb favourite, GET A GRIP printing studio and The Vintage Salon to name a few.

The Custard Factory

Have you ever been to Birmingham or any of the places featured in the blog?

Laura Loves Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair

I am so excited as there are only just over 3 weeks to go until the fantastic Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair in Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on July 1st.  We have traded at this event since it began and it is the most fantastic way to spend a Sunday.

Crowds of shoppers in the main room
With over 80 stalls it is Birmingham's biggest fair and it really has something for everyone.  We find that most traders spend the whole day browsing the 80+ stalls and we quite often see customers early in the morning and then later on in the afternoon after they have had a delicious cupcake to recharge and taken in some of the entertainment which is on throughout the day.
On the cupcake note make sure you arrive early, they are so delicious and popular they are usually sold out before 2pm!
There is always a crowd for the fair and we always have returning visitors.
Vintage hair styling and make-up is also available at the fair.
Something for everyone at the fair - stuffed full of goodies from over 80 traders.

Pin up promo girls advertising the fair.

I have added some photos from previous events, if these don't tempt you nothing will! Entry costs £1 and the fair is on from 11-5pm.  You will quite literally find everything your heart would desire in the three rooms, vintage fashion, accessories, interiors, art, and stationary to name but a few.

A picture of my stall from a previous event.
If you require any further information head over to the Sutton Vintage Fair Facebook page. Remember this will be the last chance to grab a Sutton Vintage fix until Christmas xx
