Vintage Fair Update

Just a quick post, hope you have all had a good weekend, I have spent most of today on the sewing machine.  I have a few vintage fairs coming up in the next few weeks so I have been really busy working on new ranges of stock.  Today I have been making lots of tote bags using vintage materials.  Here is one of them and they will all be available on my website in the next few days.  I would love to know what you think of them.

Handmade Tote Bag - Made using vintage fabric lots coming soon.

My next fairs are in Blackpool, Erdington and Sutton Coldfield.  I really cannot wait as I have lots and lots of new items to sell.  I will post the details of each below.

My next fair is in Blackpool, it is the first time I have traded at the event and it sounds fantastic over 100 stalls, a vintage tearoom and live entertainment.  The event is being held on the 23rd and 24th June in the Pavillion Theatre, the events Facebook page has lots more information.

After that I will be trading at the Highclare School Summer Celebration in Erdington, Birmingham.

The event is being held to celebrate the school's 80th Birthday and the Queens Jubilee.  The event will also have a funfair, donkey rides, funfair games, food stalls and a Pimms tent so it is a real family day out!  If you would like more information, head over to their Facebook page.

On July 1st I will be trading at Sutton Vintage and Arts fair.  I uploaded a blog on this event a few days ago and it really is fantastic.  Over 80 stalls, live entertainment and cupcakes and it is only £1 entry.  The Facebook page has lots of information on the event.

If you live near any of the events it would be lovely to hear from you or see you at the event, Laura xx

Laura Loves .... Dafnas Cheescake Factory Liverpool

This blog features some Instagram shots from a visit to the scrumptious Dafnas Cheesecake Factory based on Smithdown Road Liverpool.

The cake shop is amazing, the business has been trading for 35 years and moved into its current location in 1977.  The building is believed to have been a Victorian dairy house and still features original tiles from the era.  The inside of the shop is very traditional, I particularly love the way the products are displayed under domes, on counters and shelves.

The shop sells a huge variety of products, cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, quiches traditional jams and preserves, bottles of traditional lemonade and dandelion and burdock, sweets and the shop even stocks a gluten free range.

Prices are very reasonable and customers have the choice to buy a slice, half a cake or whole cakes and the shop is very popular with locals.

I chose a slice of my favourite cake, Coffee and Walnut.  A huge slice was only £1.45.  My friend chose a slice of Millionaires Shortbread for 80p.  It was very hard to choose from all the treats on offer and if you are in Liverpool I recommend a visit.

Have you been before? What is your favourite cake? I would love to hear your thoughts,

Laura Loves Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair

I am so excited as there are only just over 3 weeks to go until the fantastic Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair in Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on July 1st.  We have traded at this event since it began and it is the most fantastic way to spend a Sunday.

Crowds of shoppers in the main room
With over 80 stalls it is Birmingham's biggest fair and it really has something for everyone.  We find that most traders spend the whole day browsing the 80+ stalls and we quite often see customers early in the morning and then later on in the afternoon after they have had a delicious cupcake to recharge and taken in some of the entertainment which is on throughout the day.
On the cupcake note make sure you arrive early, they are so delicious and popular they are usually sold out before 2pm!
There is always a crowd for the fair and we always have returning visitors.
Vintage hair styling and make-up is also available at the fair.
Something for everyone at the fair - stuffed full of goodies from over 80 traders.

Pin up promo girls advertising the fair.

I have added some photos from previous events, if these don't tempt you nothing will! Entry costs £1 and the fair is on from 11-5pm.  You will quite literally find everything your heart would desire in the three rooms, vintage fashion, accessories, interiors, art, and stationary to name but a few.

If you require any further information head over to the Sutton Vintage Fair Facebook page. Remember this will be the last chance to grab a Sutton Vintage fix until Christmas xx

Laura Loves Reworked Vintage

I love working creatively and love turning items of clothing into different items.  Over the last few weeks I have been working on new ranges perfect for the Summer.  I have been customising and shortening vintage dresses, working on a new range of t-shirts and vests and most recently I have been customising vintage shirts which I have just added to my ASOS Marketplace.

Laura Loves ASOS Marketplace

Over the last few weeks I have been working on organising my vintage stock and getting an ASOS Marketplace up and running and have spent most of the weekend in the sunshine taking pictures and getting them online.

Tartan Skirt

Love the blue colour and print on this skirt.

This skirt reminds me of Marilyn Monroe

Floral print - one of my favourites

Think Pink!

This maxi reminds me of Florence and the Machine

At the moment I am running a like and share competition on Facebook.  I am giving away one of my aztec bracelets and some of my favourite nail varnish colours from ELF. If you are on Facebook and fancy entering click the link above.

Laura Loves London

"I like it in the city when the air is so thick and opaque" Adele

This weekend I visited London one of my favourite cities.  I love the hustle and bustle, the hidden treasures, boutiques, markets and the fast pace of life.  Before taking part in the fantastic vintage fair in Shoreditch Town Hall I had the chance to take in some new and old sights.

On Friday I met some friends and we checked into an apartment for the weekend, we chose the location because it was so close to Shoreditch and much cheaper than a hotel. We dropped our bags, took in the view and then decided to take in the sights and sounds of London.  The next day I took part in a fantastic vintage fair, the event was organised by The Vintage Fair who co-ordinate events across the whole of the UK.  The Town Hall was full of stalls stuffed full of high quality vintage, a tea room with a huge selection of delicious cupcakes.  I was lucky enough to be positioned on the stage area so I had the advantage of being able to see the talented ladies from Lipstick & Curls.  The girls worked non stop throughout the day, vintage hair and make-up at its best!

The stunning view across London from the balcony.

Whilst in London I visited a number of my favourite boutiques and markets and discovered a wealth of fantastic items including jewellery and home wear.  Over the next few days I will update you all on my finds.
