Peaches and Cream Win

I could hardly contain my excitement this week when I picked up this package from the sorting office.  A few weeks ago I entered a competition on Twitter to win a full set of Peaches Pigments from Peaches and Cream in Liverpool and I could hardly contain my excitement when I was sent a winning tweet.

Inside the envelope was some of the cutest packaging I have ever seen. The attention to detail Peaches and Cream use is amazing.  I have kept the little bags and boxes to use in lessons as inspiration for the students as they are fantastic.

Inside the little boxes of loveliness are 10 amazing loose pigments.  The selection of colours is stunning and I have had lots of fun experimenting with them over Christmas.  The coverage is excellent some even shimmer and sparkle.  It was hard to pick a favourite shade but at a push I have gone for Stella, a lovely silver shade that adds a lovely shimmer to a smokey eye.

The image above shows the selection of colours and I am also a big fan of their instagram page which they use to display some of the looks they create on a daily basis.   I am hoping to book in this year when I am in Liverpool to experience being peached first hand.

The pigments are £5.95 each or £45 for the whole set and I cannot recommend them to you enough.  Head over to their website for more information, shopping and inspiration.

Cuthberts Bakehouse, Liverpool

A few weeks ago I popped into a gorgeous cafe in Liverpool, Cuthberts Bakehouse.  Located near to the Metropolitan Cathedral it is a real gem.

The inside of the cafe is fabulous, its is decorated beautifully and the walls are adorned with work of some fabulous artists.  The owners have paid a lot of attention to detail and the front of the shop reminds me of Magnolia Bakery in New York.

I ordered a Turkey Club Sandwich priced at a very reasonable £4.50 and I was not disappointed.  The sandwich was stuffed with yummy fillings and was accompanied by a delicious coleslaw which complemented the dish perfectly.

I would really recommend a visit to Cuthberts if you are in the area, they have an extensive sandwich and light snack menu and they even do an afternoon tea deal which I think I will sample next time I visit.

Laura Loves .... Dafnas Cheescake Factory Liverpool

This blog features some Instagram shots from a visit to the scrumptious Dafnas Cheesecake Factory based on Smithdown Road Liverpool.

The cake shop is amazing, the business has been trading for 35 years and moved into its current location in 1977.  The building is believed to have been a Victorian dairy house and still features original tiles from the era.  The inside of the shop is very traditional, I particularly love the way the products are displayed under domes, on counters and shelves.

The shop sells a huge variety of products, cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, quiches traditional jams and preserves, bottles of traditional lemonade and dandelion and burdock, sweets and the shop even stocks a gluten free range.

Prices are very reasonable and customers have the choice to buy a slice, half a cake or whole cakes and the shop is very popular with locals.

I chose a slice of my favourite cake, Coffee and Walnut.  A huge slice was only £1.45.  My friend chose a slice of Millionaires Shortbread for 80p.  It was very hard to choose from all the treats on offer and if you are in Liverpool I recommend a visit.

Have you been before? What is your favourite cake? I would love to hear your thoughts,

Laura Loves .... Liverpool Sea Odyssey

Liverpool is one of my favourite cities, there always seems to be something exciting happening there and this weekend was no exception.  Over the weekend the city hosted a huge event with french theatre company Royal De Luxe.  The inspiration for the event stemmed from a letter a young Liverpool girl, May McMurray wrote to her father who was aboard the ill fated Titanic the day before the ship sank 100 years ago.

The story behind the event was heartwarming and the turn out in Liverpool over the three day event was huge.  The story centred around a girl giant who was on a quest to receive news about her father a stowaway who died on the Titanic.  The Little Girl's Uncle has made a promise to search the depths of the ocean and to lay his brother to rest.  After 100 years he returned to Liverpool with the White Star mail box containing a special letter for her.  For the first two days the pair wandered around the city searching for one another before finally being reunited on Saturday evening.

Over the weekend the streets were full of faces anticipating the arrival of the giants on every street corner.  Gasps of amazement as the giants arrived could be heard all around.   Tears were shed as the Uncle and Little Girl were finally reunited around us as people around us were overwhelmed with emotion after following the story so closely.  The girl dancing in the air was greeted by cheers and clapping and it was lovely to see so many people gathered on the last day to say farewell.  Certainly a weekend to remember!

I have posted some pictures from the weekend below, hope you like them! If you visited let me know what your favourite part of the weekend was.
