Photography by Jodanna

A few months ago I received a lovely email in my inbox asking me if I wanted to take part in a photo shoot.  I was really excited to be involved and I was overwhelmed by the images that have been produced by a very talented team.  We spent over 4 months planning the shoot exchanging emails and ideas daily.

I arrived at Mr Birds in the morning to be greeted by Jodanna who photographed and edited the images, Grace the super talented MUA and hairdresser and the stunning Jodi our model for the day.  The changing room area was soon transformed into a dressing room and Grace got to work on hair and make up.

The trio braved the freezing cold temperatures in and around the Custard Factory and worked tirelessly for hours to produce some striking images.

I am really pleased with the outcome of the shoot and I think you will agree that the images are breathtakingly beautiful and show off my new Spring/Summer collection brilliantly.  All contact details for the people involved in the shoot are available via my Facebook page.

Becka Grffin Cards, Product of the Week

This week I have picked out the best seller from the weekend a beautiful card by Becka Griffin.   It is Mothers Day this Sunday so this card was super popular.  So popular it actually sold out but not to worry Becka has sent me a new batch in the post so they will be back in store at Mr Birds on Wednesday.  We also have one Mum print available in store too!

The card was also the topic of conversation in the shop and on instagram this week with a debate over 'mom' and 'mum'.  As a Brummie I have always said 'Mom' and lots of my midlands based customers agreed, however we have people from all over the country popping into the store so 'Mum' was just as popular.

However you say it you will be pleased to know we will have both Mom/Mum variations of the card in store on Wednesday.  Be quick though, the were a complete sell out this weekend.

Sutton Vintage Spring Fair

So yesterday was that fabulous time of the year again when we get up early and head to Sutton Town Hall for Birmingham's biggest and best fair by far.

Each of the rooms in the town hall is packed with a variety of stallholders selling jewellery, artwork, home wear, clothes, bags, produce, make up and vintage to name a few.  Yesterday there was also a full programme of live entertainment that was well received by both customers and stall holders.

I packed most of the shop into my car on Friday night and I was overwhelmed at the fantastic response to my new layout.  All of the work by my new designers sold well with some cards completely selling out which was fantastic.  I also managed to talk to a few stallholders about stocking their work in store and I was lucky enough to take home a box full of new stock from a very talented artist I will be  sharing with you all next week.

If you came to the fair yesterday a huge thank you.  We always love chatting and talking to new and old customers and we were so grateful yesterday for people taking the time to come and see us.  The next one will be in September, I will let you know as soon as we know the date.
