Laura Loves .... Dafnas Cheescake Factory Liverpool

This blog features some Instagram shots from a visit to the scrumptious Dafnas Cheesecake Factory based on Smithdown Road Liverpool.

The cake shop is amazing, the business has been trading for 35 years and moved into its current location in 1977.  The building is believed to have been a Victorian dairy house and still features original tiles from the era.  The inside of the shop is very traditional, I particularly love the way the products are displayed under domes, on counters and shelves.

The shop sells a huge variety of products, cakes, cheesecakes, cupcakes, quiches traditional jams and preserves, bottles of traditional lemonade and dandelion and burdock, sweets and the shop even stocks a gluten free range.

Prices are very reasonable and customers have the choice to buy a slice, half a cake or whole cakes and the shop is very popular with locals.

I chose a slice of my favourite cake, Coffee and Walnut.  A huge slice was only £1.45.  My friend chose a slice of Millionaires Shortbread for 80p.  It was very hard to choose from all the treats on offer and if you are in Liverpool I recommend a visit.

Have you been before? What is your favourite cake? I would love to hear your thoughts,

Laura Loves Wellies

So the British Summer really is in full swing! As the rain has been non stop I have been looking at some of the different types of wellies available perfect for recent rainy days and of course the upcoming summer festivals.

My Wellies - A perfect mix of my favourite colours and of course florals!

A few years ago I was lucky enough to have a pair of the Hunter Royal Horticultural Society Sweet Pea Butterfly wellies as a present and even after attending numerous festivals and walks in the park they are as good as new.  I have had a quick look online and they available in the sale on some sites like M&M Direct for £44.99.  Although this is a high price they are worth it as they really do last.  Before getting my Hunter wellies I would usually buy a £10-£15 pair each year and I found that they always started to show some wear and tear or begin to leak after Winter.  Around this time of year Hunter's are usually available in TK Maxx with a large discount so it is worth checking our local store.

Here are some of my favourite wellie designs available online:

Davidson Biker Wellies - Topshop £30

I like these wellies because they would go with absolutely everything and on first glance they look like a pair of boots.

Daisy Print - Welly Warehouse £19.99

I like the fun bright pattern on this set these will make anyone stand out in the crowd.
Nautical Stripe Wellies - Matalan £12.00

I like the classic stripe wellies and think they would go with almost anything, they would also look fab with a pair of jeans for puddle splashing in the park!

Barbara Hulanacki @ George Asda £7

My last pick is a bargain pair of boots from George which are just £7 in the sale.  Designed by Barbara Hulanacki founder of Biba these boots are an absolute steal, the website only has a few sizes available in the skull print.  The boots are part of a very affordable range designed by Hulanacki for George, well worth checking out.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the wellies I have picked, Laura xxx

Laura Loves Weddings

Last week I attended a family wedding in Ireland.  I had a fantastic time and for me it was the first wedding of the summer season, luckily the sun was shining and we had a fantastic day.

Over the last few days I have been looking online for some wedding perfect outfits and stumbled across the latest Warehouse collections.  Here are some of my favourites as you will notice I love floral prints and I often use flowers and floral prints in my designs.
Orchid Print Dress £75

Multi Ditsy Dress £65

Boutique Floral Dress £42.00

What do you think of my choices? Have you bought anything new recently?

Laura Loves Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair

I am so excited as there are only just over 3 weeks to go until the fantastic Sutton Vintage and Arts Fair in Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on July 1st.  We have traded at this event since it began and it is the most fantastic way to spend a Sunday.

Crowds of shoppers in the main room
With over 80 stalls it is Birmingham's biggest fair and it really has something for everyone.  We find that most traders spend the whole day browsing the 80+ stalls and we quite often see customers early in the morning and then later on in the afternoon after they have had a delicious cupcake to recharge and taken in some of the entertainment which is on throughout the day.
On the cupcake note make sure you arrive early, they are so delicious and popular they are usually sold out before 2pm!
There is always a crowd for the fair and we always have returning visitors.
Vintage hair styling and make-up is also available at the fair.
Something for everyone at the fair - stuffed full of goodies from over 80 traders.

Pin up promo girls advertising the fair.

I have added some photos from previous events, if these don't tempt you nothing will! Entry costs £1 and the fair is on from 11-5pm.  You will quite literally find everything your heart would desire in the three rooms, vintage fashion, accessories, interiors, art, and stationary to name but a few.

A picture of my stall from a previous event.
If you require any further information head over to the Sutton Vintage Fair Facebook page. Remember this will be the last chance to grab a Sutton Vintage fix until Christmas xx

Jubilee Celebrations

I have had a fantastic time celebrating the double Bank Holiday.  Yesterday I attended a Jubilee party in a local pub, everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the evening.  The Jubilee celebrations have been a real success over the weekend and it has been good to see the country united in high spirits.

I thought the outfits worn by the younger generation of the Royal Family were really well thought out and they looked fabulous.
I particularly loved Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen red dress worn on the first day of the celebrations.  I have a similar style dress on my ASOS marketplace in a bright blue.

The Jubilee and upcoming events such as the Olympics have inspired me to make a range of stamp jewellery featuring vintage english stamps.  These have been selling really well at the fairs I have been involved in over the last few weeks but I have just uploaded a range to my ASOS Marketplace.

How did you spend the weekend?  Did you attend any celebrations? I would love to hear what you got up to or your thoughts on my new range.

Laura Loves Reworked Vintage

I love working creatively and love turning items of clothing into different items.  Over the last few weeks I have been working on new ranges perfect for the Summer.  I have been customising and shortening vintage dresses, working on a new range of t-shirts and vests and most recently I have been customising vintage shirts which I have just added to my ASOS Marketplace.
